Learn to Serve
"I don't know what to say!" "I haven't been trained to do that!"
"I couldn't do that!" "How does he do that?"
Many Christians say things like that. No one has taken the time to show them, encourage them or help them take the steps to not just sit in church, but to help, apart from doing the flowers, morning tea, gardening or whatever.
Learn to Serve is an introductory program, to help you make the initial steps needed to lovingly serve God and one another, using the gift or gifts God has given you. Whether you have been a Christian for a month or for 50 years, this program will help you.
It is not a short course. It consists of 27 short courses, which can be taken over time, so that it can fit in with your busy schedules.
Most, if not all of the courses will be held in St Peter’s or in people's homes around Hornsby. They will be held at various times (e.g. weekday afternoon, evening, Sunday afternoon, maybe at the same time as Sunday School).
You can choose which course or courses you would like to do from the Program Timetable.
Learn to Serve is a series of courses at 3 differing levels – an easy introductory level, and then 2 more levels with graded but attainable challenges.
Each level has 3 categories of teaching – Bible, Issues and Skills.
At the end of each course, you will receive a certificate of participation. After completing the whole program, you gain the Learn to Serve Certificate but more importantly, you will be more able to serve others in love, in line with the gifts God has given you. To complete the whole program, you will need to complete 3 courses within each category.
Learn to Serve is not meant to be just a course for head knowledge. As you learn, you also will be enabled to serve God and people.
In
one year, over 50 parishioners of St Peter’s (from 8 to 80years old) have been
awarded certificates in Learn to Serve courses. Some have 5 received certificates.
